Abundant Love, Infinite Patience

Mixed Media | 14.5" x 9.75" | Private Collection

When friends saw my artwork “2 Stoned” at the Boundless Inspirations exhibition at Galley on Gazebo, they asked if I could do a commission piece. I received vintage buttons, old pieces of jewelry and stones, along with music and poetry that was particularly meaningful to them.

I love taking little pieces of memories that have been lost in a drawer and putting them together to be visible, seen, and loved in a new way. I also wanted to use golds, purples, greens and blues... colors that play off the other art in the room this will live.

The glass tiles are from Venice (Murano, to be exact); the five green pieces of disassembled jewelry hanging from the top remind me of guitar pics... wanted to give them extra love because Ernie is an accomplished guitarist.

Since Barb and Ernie appreciate good wine, I added an “E” and “B” metallic logos saved from the top of previously enjoyed wine. The “R,” “E,” and “M” hanging below represent their three children, and the poem/song “Two Hands Hold the Earth” by Sarah Pirtle is safely rolled up in the glass bottle... forever!

I listened to that little infectious tune while creating part of this piece. Started singing it when I woke up the next morning and couldn’t figure out where that came from... till I got to my art desk... hahaha. I also used music images from the James Taylor song, “Something in the Way She Moves.” The title of the piece was the couple’s words “to live by” Abundant Love, Infinite Patience... (something we all could benefit from!) honored that in several places within the piece.

It's a fun, fun project.

Learn About Commissions

I enjoy taking on custom work when I have space and feel inspired. Learning about other’s stories, loved ones, and experiences is an honor and challenge I do not take for granted. Therefore, I do not accept all custom work, but I always value inquiries.
