Plymouth Rock (Print)
Was at a friend’s farm to take reference photos of her Penzgauer cows when I saw her Plymouth Rock chickens. Ended up chasing this little girl around the yard. I was inspired by the graphic qualities of the red plastic fencing behind the black and white chicken. I found tissue paper from a shoe box that worked perfectly as the faux fencing. The background words are a quote from Buzz Aldrin: “The pilgrims on the Mayflower landed at Plymouth Rock. To my knowledge, they didn’t wait around for a return trip to Europe. You settle some place with a purpose. If you don’t want to do that, stay home. You avoid an awful lot of risks by not venturing outward.” That sentiment spoke to my current thoughts of exhibiting work in new venues (2018)
